AK ZHOL PARTY SUGGESTS TESTING KAZAKH LANGUAGE SKILLS OF ASPIRING CITIZENS

Almaty. May 17. Interfax-Kazakhstan - Ak Zhol political party has drafted amendments to some legislative acts "On expanding the use of the Kazakh language" to promote the Kazakh language exam as a mandatory procedure for obtaining Kazakhstan's citizenship.

The party has also proposed setting a requirement for foreign investors to manage technical and financial documentation in a strict compliance with the Kazakh law on languages, "to give a better chance to Kazakh companies to bid for contracts with major foreign companies developing mineral resources. "

In addition, the daft law provides for subsidizing costs of Kazakh language studies by the Kazakh government for the employees of non-state entities.

The party noted that the bill has successfully passed the scientific and legal expertise and is in compliance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Under the Constitution of Kazakhstan Kazakh is the state language of the country. Russian is an official language being used in the state bodies on equal terms with Kazakh.
