KAZMUNAYGAS, LUKOIL TO JOINTLY STUDY OIL SECTIONS IN KAZAKHSTAN

Astana. May 15. Interfax-Kazakhstan - Kazakh National Company KazMunayGas and Russia's Lukoil intend to sign several agreements in Astana on Wednesday, including on jointly researching oil sections in Kazakhstan, the companies said in a statement.

KazMunayGas CEO Lyazzat Kiinov and Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov intend to sign a memorandum of understanding laying the foundations for cooperation in the geological and geophysical study of free, unlicensed sections located onland and/or offshore in Kazakhstan.

There are also plans to sign a general cooperation agreement on human resources management with the goal of studying the technologies of aromatic hydrocarbon production.

"The corresponding program has been underway since November 2011. Specialists from the Atyrau Oil Refinery received training at the LUKOIL-Permnefteorgsintez and LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka plants. This year, there are plans to train another 46 workers from the Atyrau Oil Refinery. In turn, Lukoil employees plan to study KazMunayGas' experience in developing professional standards," the statement said.
