GIRL'S MURDER IN ZHANAOZEN NOT CONNECTED TO HER FATHER'S ACTIVITIES - POLICE

Astana. August 31. Interfax-Kazakhstan - The murder of the 18-year-old Zhansaule Karabalayeva is not connected to her father's former job.

"We do not associate this murder (of Zh. Karabalayeva) with the activities of her father. It is a common crime. We are establishing all the circumstances of the case," the Interior Ministry spokesman Nurdilda Oraz said at a Wednesday press briefing in Astana.

As previously reported, the body of Zhansaule Karabalayeva was found on August 24 in a Zhanaozen city outskirt with signs of violence and stab wounds.

Earlier reports suggested that she was the daughter of the Ozenmunaygas trade union chairman Kurdaibergen Karabalayev.

The KMG EP press office said that Kurdaibergen Karabalayev was not the trade union chairman and had never been a strike activist. He worked as an engine driver for the company before being on July 27 this year.
