NATIONAL PATRIOTS OFFER DRAFT OF KAZAKHSTAN'S NATIONAL POLICY AS OPTION TO OFFICIAL NATIONAL UNITY DOCTRINE

The movement of national patriots came up with a draft concept of the national policy as an option to the doctrine of the national unity proposed by the authorities.

"The concept was made to reflect the doctrine, but give an optional view on the same issues. The main purpose of the concept is to create a national state on the land of indigenous Kazakhs, " the chairman of the National Patriotic Movement of Kazakhstan Dosmukhamet Nurakhmet said at a press conference on January 19 in Almaty.

The document specifies the steps the government should make before 2015, Azat (Freedom) oppositional party head Amirzhan Kosanov said. "It's thefirst time in history, when the national policy is presented in a single conceptual document. Civil movements did what Akorda (Kazakh president's residence - “IF-K") was unable to do," Kosanov said.

The draft concept consists of six sections: basic historical facts, principles of national policy, goals and objectives of the national policy and mechanisms to implement it. "This document does not only covers national issues - language, culture and spirituality. This document highlights such aspects as society, economy, foreign policy, political issues, social sphere, education and training, information policy, language and religion," he said.

Ak Zho party member Burikhan Nurmukhamedov said that the fundamental difference of the document from the national doctrine is the idea to from "an ethnic state and a politically competitive Kazakh nation." "The document provides for the modernization of the Kazakh language and other related issues aimed to crate the 21st century Kazakh nation that could make a significant contribution to the world community," Nurmukhamedov said.
