AROUND 100,000 PEOPLE GIVEN EMPLOYMENT IN KAZAKHSTAN UNDER STATE PROGRAM IN TWO YEARS

Astana. July 23. Interfax-Kazakhstan - Around 100,000 Kazakhstanis have been provided with jobs under the State Employment Program-2020, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Kazakhstan Gulshara Abdykalikova said.

"Since the start of the program 430,000 people officially registered as unemployed have found employment. This number includes around 100,000 of the program's participants," Abdykalikova said at her ministry's panel meeting in Astana on Monday.

According to her, the total volume of government funds allocated to the program in 2011-2012 has reached 99.7 billion tenge. As of July 1 this year, 51.7 billion has been disbursed.

The current exchange rate is 149.51 tenge /$1.

"In the program's effective period 110,000 people have shown willingness to participate and signed a social contract. Among the signees, 66.7% were unemployed, 29.9% self-employed and 4.5% belonged to the low-income category. People under 29 comprise 57% of the program's participants," the minister said.

The population of Kazakhstan exceeds 16.7 million.
