ONLY GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND BUSINESSMAN CAN AFFORD TO GO TO LONDON TO WATCH OLYMPIC GAMES - SPORTS FANS

Almaty. July 10. Interfax-Kazakhstan - Ordinary people will not be able to support the Kazakh athletes in London as they cannot afford to go there, said Rimma Tazhibayeva, the head of the Kazakh Athletics Supporters Club.

"We did not choose the fans who have happened to be 250 well-to-do people, mainly high-ranking government officials, presidents of federation and so on, who are able to pay their trip expenses themselves. Ordinary people just cannot afford to go (to London to cheer for the Kazakh athletes during the 30th Olympic Games - If-K). It may happen that there will be no supporters of the Kazakh athletes at the stadiums," she said in an interview with the newspaper Vremya published Tuesday.

However, she hopes that the "VIP fans" will do what they are expected to do. "They are government officials only here and they go there to cheer for the athletes," Tazhibayeva said.
