RUSSIA, KAZAKHSTAN TO MERGE THEIR AIR DEFENSE SYSTEMS IN 2013 - KAZAKH AIR DEFENSE COMMANDER
CHOLPON-ATA, Kyrgyzstan. July 11. Interfax-AVN - The year of 2013 will see the signing of an agreement on the creation of a Russian-Kazakh joint regional air defense system, Kazakh Air Defense Commander Col. Nurjan Mukanov said.
"We are working on this. We are agreeing on the documents currently. The agreement on the creation of a Russian-Kazakh joint regional air defense system will be signed next year," Mukanov told a news conference in the wake of a meeting of the air defense coordination committee that took place in Kyrgyz resort town of Cholpon-Ata.
Asked about shipments of Russia's S-300 air defense complexes to Kazakhstan, he said that the issue will finally be settled in 2013.
