KAZAKHSTANI INTERNET ADVERTISING MARKET TO GROW BY 40% IN 2012 - EXPERT
Almaty. June 13. Interfax-Kazakhstan - Interactive Media Group (IMG) projects the Kazakhstani market of Internet advertising to grow by 40% in 2012.
"According to our estimates, the Internet advertising market will grow by 30-40% this year against last year," General Director of IMG Arman Alzhanov told Interfax-Kazakhstan.
He valued the present market at $10 million with banner ads making up 75% and contextual ads 15% of the market. In 2012 banner advertising will still account for most of the growth, the expert said.
Growth in the sector is held back by such factors as the limited penetration of the Internet in the country and the relatively low awareness among advertisers of the advantages of this type of advertising, Alzhanov said.
According to Alzhanov, the premises for future growth in Internet advertising lie in "exactly the same factors".
He expressed confidence that the rapid expansion of the Internet penetration and audience would make advertisers more conscious of the opportunities it presents.
"For now," the IMG head added, "the Internet remains underappreciated as an advertising media".
