NAZARBAYEV CONFIDENT TIES WITH CHINA WILL BE GROWING STRONGER

Astana. June 7. Interfax-Kazakhstan - President Nursultan Nazarbayev is convinced that cooperation with China in the financial, economic, industrial, cultural and humanitarian spheres will be strengthening further on.

"Kazakhstan and Chine have implemented a series of oil and gas pipeline projects. Other major joint projects are currently underway in Kazakhstan: Atyrau Petrochemical Complex worth several billion dollars, modernization of the Shymkent refinery and building a pipeline to link the west of the country with southern regions planned for completion next year. This project will supply gas to the southern region and reduce dependence on external supplies," said Kazakh President.

"I'm discussing a new highway project from Almaty-Astana and High Speed Rail Road along the same route, as well as the Zhezkazgan-Beneu railway link. Proposals regarding development of new technologies, alternative energy, agricultural industry, engineering have been met with approval by our Chinese colleagues and stipulated in the agreements reached," he informed.

Kazakh President also hailed the practice of such summits amidst faltered global economy, allowing for exchange of views on economic prospects and world market situation.
