KAZAKHSTAN SUPPORTS CHINA'S INITIATIVE TO CREATE SCO DEVELOPMENT BANK AND SPECIAL ACCOUNTS
Astana. June 6. Interfax-Kazakhstan - One of the main objectives of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for the near future should be to expand economic cooperation between the states participating in the Organization, said Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
"Kazakhstan has been a strong advocate of economic and humanitarian cooperation within the SCO. (...) We support the idea of creating mechanisms of financial support for the projects: SCO special account and SCO development bank," says a Wednesday press release of the president's press office that quotes Nazarbayev as saying at a meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States.
Nazarbayev also believes that development of the transport potential could be another priority of the cooperation. "This approach will increase the trade turnover within the Organization and expand the transit transportation volume between Asia and Europe", said Nazarbayev.
The president reminded that Kazakhstan had been carrying out a number transport and logistic services projects.
